Do I Need a Content Management System/Media Player?

Whether you need a content management system (CMS) or media player depends on your individual requirements. If your goal is to display basic image, video, audio or interactive content on a single device, Displays2go branded digital signage is designed to be used out-of-the box with the Android operating system, which can run installed applications from the Google Play Store or other sources, and has a web browser. Many units come with our built-in user-friendly slideshow app, DiViEX which can be used to create powerful streaming presentations. Most LG and Samsung units, or other leading brands sold by Displays2go have a built-in CMS for the creation and distribution of content. For advanced or enterprise-level content management and media formats, media players, content management software and technical support may be recommended. Check out our trusted software partner options to choose which option may be right for you. Media players and content management systems are also necessary to convert monitors without an internal CMS or operating systems into digital signage. What is the Difference Between Android OS Versions for Digital Signage & Personal Devices?

There are some key differences for Android OS on digital signage vs. personal devices. Android OS for digital signage uses a more open-source version of Android, providing developers and manufacturers the flexibility to customize firmware to create features and benefits to the specific needs of businesses, whereas personal devices operate on a more locked-down version which is optimized for personal use. Android OS for digital signage are built with the specific needs of digital signage operation in mind, prioritizing stability and security, and typically runs several numeric generations behind the versions that you may see available for personal devices to allow more development and customization to take place over time.

What are Firmware Updates and When do I Need One?

Updating your device's firmware may resolve performance issues or compatibility with 3rd party apps. If you are encountering any lagging, freezing, or content displaying incorrectly, a firmware update may resolve these issues. Available Firmware downloads are located on each product page under Manuals & Resources. You can also find a complete repository of firmware downloads for eligible devices here. What is the Difference Between Single and Dual-Band WiFi Frequencies?

Dual-band refers to devices that can operate on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi frequency bands. Which you choose may depend on what is available and what is the most practical for your application. The 2.4GHz band provides further range, and is more reliable through walls and obstruction, but may result in lower speeds and performance, while the 5GHz band offers faster speeds but at the cost of a shorter range. 5GHz is less susceptible to interference, so in busy settings like trade shows, 5GHz may be preferred or required for wireless connections. Many digital signage devices we sell are dual-band and can operate on both frequencies, and we are working to add dual-band compatibility to all Displays2go digital signage. To check which bandwidths a device can connect to, please review the "WiFi Compatibility" feature in the Specifications table on the product page. Interested in learning more? Read our full comparison of 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi as it applies to digital signage.

What is the Difference Between the Factory 1 or 2-Year Warranties and Mulberry Warranties?

The 1 or 2-year warranties included with your device protects against manufacturing defects. Mulberry ADH (Accidental Damage & Handling) offers additional product protection that covers against accidental damage and more. This protection runs concurrently with any manufacturer's warranty so you can be confident that your product is protected from all of life's accidents, for years to come. Review the terms of each warranty to understand the comprehensive coverage offered by Mulberry. Read more about the Mulberry Warranty options here.

What is the Difference Between DiViEX and DisplayIt Express?

DiViEX is an app which allows the user to edit and play images, videos and music locally on a device by creating slideshows using static images and loop videos that have been uploaded to the device. The DiViEX app comes standard on many of our digital signage products. See DiViEX in motion here.
